Concrete is a highly popular and versatile material utilized in a variety of applications, from small-scale home projects to larger commercial projects. When it comes to mixing concrete at home, whether for a patio, sidewalk, fence, driveway, or other small-sized project, you have several options which we will briefly cover below. However, the most efficient way to mix concrete quickly and accurately is through the concrete mixer portable called the MudMixer®.
Methods of Mixing Concrete at Home
The typical options available for mixing concrete at home include using a:
- Bucket with a drill mixer
- Mechanical mixer (often rented)
- Pouring dry mix in place and adding water
Mixing concrete in a wheelbarrow can be time-consuming and it requires physical effort. Mixing concrete in a bucket with a drill mixer requires less effort but allows only a small quantity of concrete to be mixed at a time. Renting a mechanical concreate mixer is easier but can be costly to rent for each job. Mixing concrete by pouring dry mix in place and adding water from a hose should only be done when no structural considerations are involved. It may be difficult to maintain consistent mixing through this method as well.
Mixing Concrete Using the MudMixer®
The most efficient and fastest way to mix concrete at home is to use a device called the MudMixer®. This portable mixer has the capacity to mix 45 80lb bags of concrete in a single hour. Meaning one person can mix 1-yard of concrete in just 60 minutes.
The MudMixer® removes a large part of the physical labor that characterizes several other concrete mixing processes. To use this concret mixer, you simply add your dry material to the hopper. Then, adjust the water dial to the required level and allow the machine to mix the material and water to the proper consistency. The mixture will then convey the material along a chute allowing you to dispense it to the required location for your project.
